The use of injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) in wrinkle filling and facial volumization is well established in the dermatological practice. While complications are rare, techniques for their management should be known by the dermatologist. Nodules may occur with the use of deeper application fillers, and the treatment is similar to that used for the more superficial and less viscous fillers. The use of a thinner cannula may reduce this risk, especially in areas where the dermis is thinner.

Introduction: Injectable hyaluronic acid is regarded as the gold standard treatment in the aesthetic correction of wrinkles, loss of contour, and restoration of facial volume. However, it is expected that consequentially adverse - sometimes severe - reactions will arise concomitant with the growth in use of hyaluronic acid-based cutaneous fillers. Objective: To evaluate the application of hyaluronidase in the treatment of adverse effects of injectable hyaluronic acid, as well as possible reactions to the intradermal injection of that enzyme. Methods: A retrospective study was carried out with 50 patients who underwent the application of hyaluronidase aimed at correcting complications or unaesthetic effects following hyaluronic acid-based filling procedures in the face. Results: Twenty-three patients had some type of adverse effect (restricted to the injection site) ranging from erythema, burning sensations, and mild edema, during or after the application, with spontaneous improvement. There were no cases of moderate to severe edema. Most patients reported regression of excess hyaluronic acid a few hours after the injection. Conclusions: Hyaluronidase is an extremely effective tool both in acute adverse events and in the reversal of unsatisfactory results, and in the dilution of biofilm. All those who use hyaluronic acid when treating their patients should have technical mastery of hyaluronidase application.

Introduction: The use of microneedling techniques has become increasingly important in the correction of scars.
Objective: To evaluate the results of percutaneous induction of collagen with needles in scars developed after automobile accidents.
Methods: A retrospective, descriptive and monocentric study analyzed medical records containing standardized photographs taken at baseline and 3 months after a single microneedling session, in 9 patients diagnosed with post-traumatic scars who were treated using the same protocol. Clinical and photographic evaluations of the treatment were performed by the investigator 3 months after the procedure according to a category scale (very good, good, reasonable, poor). Patient satisfaction questionnaires were also applied at this experimental timepoint.
Results: The clinical and photographic evaluation classified 5 patients as very good and 4 as good regarding the results achieved. All patients reported satisfaction with the outcomes.
Conclusions: The use of needle-induced percutaneous collagen yielded good esthetical and functional results in scars developed following accidental trauma. Adverse effects were not observed, which suggests that the described procedure has a good safety profile.

Hot asphalt burns are a health threat due to the risk of death and adhesion to tissues.
A 40-year-old man suffered first and second-degree burns by hot asphalt on 20% of the body surface area. The asphalt adhered to the skin was removed on the 4th day of the ICU stay with liquid petroleum jelly, and the burns were treated with healing gel.
Burns caused by hot asphalt are serious and represent 1.4% of hospitalized cases. They affect young people in the skin and airways by inhaling the vapors.
Removing asphalt from the skin is a major therapeutic challenge.
