Desmoplastic melanoma (DM) represents less than 4% of cutaneous melanomas and is characterized by invasive proliferation of spindle cells in the dermis, often with neurotropism. The nonspecific clinical appearance and the absence of pigmentation usually lead to a clinical misdiagnosis. The authors report a case of DM located in a cutaneous field cancerization simulating actinic keratosis.
