Introduction: Lesions in fingers and toes are frequent in the dermatological practice, and diagnosis is feasible in the majority of cases after a thorough anamnesis and physical examination.
Objective: To draw a profile of the most prevalent lesions in toes and fingers that were surgically approached by the dermatologic surgery team, at a dermatologic referral service, as well as to evaluate the classification of these lesions, their distribution among age groups and genders, and the correlation between clinical suspicion and anatomopathological diagnosis.
Methods: A retrospective observational study was performed with 344 patients, and the evaluation of 367 surgical procedures.
Results: The analysis showed that most of the procedures were performed in female adults, with the left hallux being the most affected location in the studied sample. It was also verified that the majority of the procedures were linked to lesions of traumatic nature, with biopsy/excision and canthoplasty/canthotomy being the most accomplished procedures.
Conclusions: The results of the present study contribute to the planning and design of future dermatological care.

Lesions located in fingers and toes, including the involvement of the nail apparatus, are not rare in dermatological practice. Many of them can be treated by dermatologist physicians qualified in dermatological and ungual surgeries, who rely on their knowledge of the origin and types, pathophysiology, and available therapeutic options for these lesions. The present study is aimed at presenting a bibliographical review on the various lesions that can affect this topography.

The association of cysts and comedones in chronically sun-damaged skin characterizes the Favre-Racouchot syndrome. The authors report a case of a 64 year-old male patient with a history of smoking and tillage work activity. The patient had lesions in the malar, zygomatic and mandibular regions bilaterally, constituted by slightly erythematous cysts and large comedones in thickened skin with deep grooves. The condition was diagnosed as Favre-Racouchot syndrome, and treated by means of surgical excision. The objective of the present study is to describe an exuberant presentation of the syndrome, and its treatment via surgical excision.

Vascular anomalies correspond to a broad spectrum of changes that fall into two main groups: 1) vascular tumors, which represent proliferative lesions, and 2) vascular malformations, caused by ectasia in vessels, whether capillary, venous or lymphatic.This article reviews the main vascular anomalies observed in dermatological practice, their main classifications and available treatments, focusing on the use of lasers and intense pulsed light to lighten cutaneous vascular lesions, especially those resulting from malformations.
