INTRODUCTION: Burn is a tissue injury and affects social functioning and relationships. Complications of burns lead to disruption of social relationships and, consequently, social dysfunction.
OBJECTIVE: This study aims to determine the effect of multimedia training on burned patients’ social functioning in Shahid Motahhari hospital in Tehran.
METHODS: This clinical trial study assessed 100 burned patients. The intervention group received multimedia self-care discharge training on a CD in addition to the standard education. The social function of the quality of life was examined in both groups before the intervention, 3 months and 6 months after the intervention.
CONCLUSIONS: Results showed that before the intervention, the mean score of social function of quality of life in intervention and control group was 1/55± 0/46, 1/92± 0/6, respectively, which was statistically significant (p <0.001). Mean and standard deviation of social function of quality of life in the intervention and control groups three and six months after intervention were2/47± 0/56, 4/05± 0/77, 2/15±0/39, 3/29 ± 0/95, also statistically significant (p<0.001).

Introduction: Acne Vulgaris is a skin disease that, with the advent of social media, has become more susceptible to the spread of unreliable information.
Objective: This study aims to characterize the influence of social media on the treatment choice for Acne Vulgaris without medical advice, identify complications of inadequate treatments, and highlight the most influential social media for this purpose and the life quality of these patients.
Methods: It is a descriptive cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach whose sample consisted of 306 social media users over 18 years of age. After signing the Informed Consent ("Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido - TCLE)" the data was collected through a self-administered form along with the questionnaire "Dermatology Life Quality Index - DLQI-BRA" via "Google forms" over 30 days. The data was then tabulated online and analyzed according to descriptive statistics.
Results: The results showed a great impact, especially from "Instagram", in the dissemination of content on the subject and highlighted the role of the dermatologist on social networks as the source of information chosen by the public.
Conclusions: The public was strict about the quality of the information, but there is still a need for greater insertion of trained professionals and information based on scientific evidence on social media.

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic has expanded the use of social interaction technologies, connecting individuals virtually. This change has brought a new trend of dissatisfaction with appearance induced by social media, motivating the excessive search for aesthetic procedures.
OBJECTIVE: To assess the impact generated by the use of apps during the pandemic on the self-image of respondents by biological sex, age, and family income.
METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional study with 350 participants, aged 18 years or older, residing in the state of São Paulo - Brazil, through online dissemination of an electronic form. The data obtained were tabulated and analyzed by chi-square and Cochran tests, crossing the variables income, age, and biological sex.
RESULTS: Of the total, 69.71% claim changes in the way they see themselves physically during the pandemic; 58.3% report that apps influence their self-image, as 70.6% of the answers are women between 18- 29 years old; 73.9% of women of all ages and incomes recognized the importance of skin for self-image, with this finding being discrepant among the age groups of men.
CONCLUSIONS: The use of apps during the pandemic impacted the self-image of the participants leading them to have a greater interest in obtaining future treatments and aesthetic procedures.
